The device has undergone rigorous testing to ensure compliance with safety standards. The static strength test subjects the SRL to 3000 lbs of force for 1 minute. The dynamic strength test uses a 300 lbs mass subjected to a 4-foot free fall, and the SRD must lock and remain locked until released. The dynamic performance test uses a 282 lbs mass subjected to a zero free fall with a webbing extension of 36 inches. The breaking force must be less than 1800 lbs, and the arrest distance must be less than 24 inches.
